How best to prepare

1. Make a list of what are the top 3 things you want to make sure we can “handle".
Your priorities, not just diagnoses—schedule, past experiences, health goals.

2. Reflect on what do you want in the doctor-patient relationship.
Identify the top two things you’d ideally have: trust, comfort, feeling heard, easy access, longer visits—know what matters to you.

3. Come with questions about the membership
Ask what’s included, how visits/messaging work, and if it fits your particular needs.

4. Check your insurance
HMOs are a less frequent type of health insurance where they want you to see their own doctors. You will know you have an HMO because on the front of your insurance it will say HMO typically on the bottom right. If it says PPO or is blank you are likely in the clear. At Well Woven we can still see people with HMOs but insurance may not “honor” our orders.

Most people don’t realize you can meet your doctor first. That’s the point of the meet & greet—ask questions, see how it feels, and decide from there. When in doubt, trust your gut.
