Why Veterans Like Well Woven
At Well Woven, caring for veterans is personal. Dr. Catherine Lok comes from a military family—her father served in both the Army and Navy, and her partner is an eight-year Navy veteran. While Well Woven is not affiliated with the VA, many veterans appreciate the different experience that a direct primary care membership can offer.
You're not treated like a number in a large system. Instead of navigating phone trees, waiting for callbacks, or struggling to get medication refills, members at our clinic have direct access to their doctor, Dr. Catherine Lok and her direct medical assistant.
Veterans value continuity. We hear from veterans they hate to tell their whole life story to a doctor just for them to leave that office a year later. At Well Woven, you see the same doctor every visit. Dr. Lok founded this clinic and plans to remain in the greater Asheville area for the long term. That doctor-patient relationship matters. Your physician gets to know your history, your goals, and what works best for you.
Veterans and people at large deserve respect and not just “slapped” with another prescription without explanation. At Well Woven, we are collaborative.
Exception: For veterans with complex medical needs, the VA often remains the best fit and provides services Well Woven does not. However, some veterans choose to maintain a Well Woven membership alongside their VA care because they value the convenience, access, and personalized attention.
Separately from the membership practice, Dr. Lok also performs VA disability examinations.
